Call the insurance company dummy!

Nope, that ain't dirt, them are water stains

During the first year we lived here in this brand new house, we had a bad rain storm, which created a 15 foot wide river along the back of the house (we're built on fill) and rain coming into to living room through the patio door.
The carpets were sopping wet.
I dutifully dried the mess, called my builder, had a guy "fix the door" by hoisting up the threshold a little and caulking all around.

Four year later, my floor boards are stained and the paint is peeling off, and from the latest rain storms there is now a permanent wet spot on the wall.

I asked my buddies on my local chat site if they knew of any good local contractors.

One lady suggested I call my insurance company, she thought it sounded like something my insurance should cover.

DUH!!!!!!

Why didn't I think of that????

So it took most of my morning to get to the correct person who took my information, told me to make pictures and sit tight for an adjuster to make an appointment to come and see whassup.

I've never in my life had to put in a claim for my house, so it was a new experience for me.

I've had to put in claims for car damage, but that was always relatively easy, and not something you'd forget about doing.

The fellow who built our house, and this little neighborhood, did a lousy job of putting these places together. Many people are complaining. To deaf ears, I might add.The guy is a true suddern redneck a**hole.
He is a local fellow who owns tons of property and built many homes here in Cartersville. It makes me giggle to watch this huge mansion he built stand idle for two years now, not being able to give it away, he's lowered the price, offers a low rate of financing too (3.99%) but no one is buying it.

A few of my neighbors have sued him. One person even made him buy the house back!

Our little group (homeowners association) made him even more pissy when we decided to tear down the heap of rocks that made a waterfall, and the little pond. It costs us $2000 a year to maintain that damn thing, and it was UGGGGLY.
So we spent $1500 to demolish the eyesore, and made it into a lawn.
He thought it was a terrific feature. We were afraid of the liability and the cost of repairs and maintenance. Kids would climb the rocks, whole families would come and make their family pictures. Never mind that if someone would fall and break their noggin, we would be responsible.

Anyway, so now we wait. Apparently there were a lot of claims in this area from the recent bad weather, but at least I feel good that someone shook my brains.

I took Boo to Walliemart to pick up Wheelie's drugs this morning, and afterwards I had her run amok through the neighborhood. She discovered our little kiddy corner with the slide and the swings. So we slid down a slide a few times, weeeeeeeee.....
Even though we're expecting a cold week, today is nice and sunny, and not cold at all.

I feel so sorry for our friends up north with their minus 0 temps...brrrrr....

Please stay warm y'all!!!

SGMKJ!

HI! My brother in law is an excellent contractor. He does turn key job -to- repairs such as yours if you want his name and number email me for it. he is slow now so he could probably get right on repairing it as soon as the insurance co comes out.

Do you have flood insurance? Regular home insurance doesn't cover water damage like this. I found out the hard way. Do not call anyone to fix anything thinking insurance will be handing over the money. You also will have to list this on your disclosure if and when you sell the house.
