Prom night for the grown ups

Gosh, didn't the girls look pretty.
Didn't the fellows look smart.

I only had a few glimpses of the balls last night. After an entire day in front of the tube, alternating between the inauguration and Elmo/Barney I was pretty much tuckered out at 9pm.

But what a day it was.
Still cannot wrap my mind around the entire concept.
It was a miracle the day went so well, and everyone was so happy. I heard that there were NO unruly folks, not one arrest. Almost 2 million people, and they were all happy.
Must have been some shakti in D.C. yesterday.

Even sitting on my couch, sometimes with Boo on my lap, I could not stop my tears when Aretha sang. Or when YoYo and Itzak played. Or when Obama took the oath. Or during his speech.
I managed to sing along with the national anthem with Boo looking back at me smiling...wow, Oma knows that song!

Goosebumps!

Overall I felt a glimmer of hope. Not only for the country, the world, my for our own personal world. Kind of a 'starting-over-with-a-clean-slate' feeling. Like moving into a brand new house. A feeling of wanting to hang on to new stuff and eagerness to embrace the days ahead, the future.

This WAS a historic day. In so many different ways, for so many different people.

It was disappointing to me personally to hear the griping of a few 'friends', one of them bitching about the mess the events left behind, about how she couldn't run her errands because everything was closed and the traffic a big mess.
Well, kiddo. Sorry your side lost. But we could not afford to go on with the old status quo.
We need new blood.
Something completely different.

And we got it!

Things won't get better overnight, but in a few years we will look back and I am certain that everyone will agree that yesterday was the day our lives changed for the better, forever.

SGMKJ!
