Whew!
After Bugs picked up Boo yesterday (they checked out of the hotel at eleven, went to breakfast and managed to be here at FOUR, something I was already counting on) I was SO relieved.
I was SO frigging tired!
I took a long hot shower (to hell with the drought!!) and got into my lounging wear, planning a quick dinner for Wheelie, and then...on to bed with a book................
Or soI thought.................
At six o'clock the phone rings........
Mom.....I am SO overwhelmed, I am trying to clean and pack and, and ,and, and....sniff...
Want me to come and help, baby?
Would you....pleeeaaasseee???
Wheelie looked at me with a silly grin and I went and put my clothes back on, got in the car and off I went to resque my damsel-in-distress-daughter.
She was doing pretty good, considering. She had made quite a dent in the laundry, gotten two rooms empty, filled two large garbage cans. Boo was having a ball running around through all the mess. Not for long however, we got her to sleep rather quickly.
I sat her down first, made some coffee and made her put her feet up. We talked.
Once more I offered our help, ensuring her we don't want to come off like we're trying to interfere, or being nosy. We just want to HELP.
We then rolled up our proverbial sleeves and went to work. As usual, I tackled the kitchen.
Emptied the dish washer, washed the other stuff, and packed everything up as we went. Her diningroom was empty so we designated that room for the packed boxes.
We went from cupboard to cupboard. Amazing what a person can acquire in only a few years.
50% of her stuff she never uses/used, so it either went into the garbage, or on the Goodwill heap.
We finished the kitchen in an hour.
Since Boo was asleep we couldn't do her room, but we dragged out whatever Bugs had already packed and I took about 4 bins home with baby clothes that are too small.
Perhaps eBay, perhaps Goodwill, I'll have to go through it first.
At 8:30 I felt my bloodsugar drop, and I knew it was time for me to quit and go home.
We had another rest and when I was sure she was alright, I left.
PH came over later and together they did more packing.
OH! I forgot!
When she called me she told me that ALL the people who offered to help were all of a sudden avoiding her phone calls, so she called a moving company (on Sunday evening no less) The first guy she talked to said he charged $150 per hour.
No way Jose.
She called the second number, only to find out it was really the same company. But she talked with another fellow who said he would do it for $75 an hour.
A deal!
She also left a message with Nana and Pappi, they offered to take the dog a while back. And they also wanted to buy (MY) freezer.
They never called back.
This morning I pointed the Honda to Bugs's house once again bright and early at eight o'clock.
We did some more packing and cleaning. At 9 sharp the Moving truck honked. It took them one hour to load, 15 minutes to drive to the other house and another hour to unload.
Piece of cake.
Boo and I went to Target in the meantime.
So it's now 12:30, I put the child to bed, where she is pissing and moaning, but I am not going to let her run around. She is VERY tired, and she needs to calm down and regroup too.
Just heard from Bugs, some of her friends have called after all and are coming over to move the small stuff.
The way we kept the mover's cost down was for them to just move the BIG stuff.
I hope the little bugger will fall asleep for a while, because I need to take a rest myself.
So how is YOUR day going?
:>)
