At least one of my friends sent me a very uplifting email this morning, basically telling me I had two choices every day. I could decide to have a bad day, or a good day. It was one of those forwarded deals.
This one could not have come at a better time.
Of course I had planned to spend my entire day laying around reading, munching and doing absolutely nothing.
Last night Bugs and the Bride came over to print some little notes to attach to the 'thank you' gifts.
Bugs wasn't feeling well. I could tell, she was looking rather peeked, and she was complaining that she was probably going to have her period.
Last night she called again. She had a splitting headache and sharp pains in her side, so bad she couldn't bend. She was running a fever of 101 °. Should she just take some Advil?
Hmmm...no, my child...you have health insurance...you can afford to go to the damn doctor.
She managed to get an appointment this morning at 9:30.
As I drive up to her house this morning there's a white truck parked on her lawn, the meter reader, I thought...
Wrong!
They were turning off her water....
I packed the girls in the car, and stuffed the water bill in my purse, told her not to worry, if we pay it before four it'll be connected again before you get home.
At the doctor's I strollered Boo around the building about a hundred times, as she didn't want to sit still inside. Oma got her exersize :>)
Finally Bugs came out...in tears....
He says it's my gall bladder!!
It took another half hour strollering for the lab work.
So basically, she is fighting an infection. Most likely her gall bladder. She talked with the doc about her participation of the wedding this weekend, and how she couldn't miss it, since one of the brides maids had cancelled already, leaving the bride with one bridesmaid and one maid of honor.
The doc told her if he had HIS way, she would be in the hospital, but he understood her predicament. So he called in a prescription for antibiotics to fight the infection and gave her some meds in case of pain.
Of course she also was right about her period starting, something which in our family is truly and has always been A CURSE...I mean, C R A M P S!
So off we went to the Water Department to pay her bill, then to the pharmacy to pick up the meds and the grocery store to pick up some food. The doc told her to eat bland food for now, like lame sandwiches, oatmeal and bananas. No dairy, no spices, no roughage.
After taking some Advil she started to feel better. I dropped them off at two pm...where does the time go when you are having fun?
So tomorrow morning she has an appointment for an ultra sound at the hospital. If it's gall stones, they will schedule surgery. If they don't find stones, she will have to have a different test, but the doc told her that no matter what, the bladder had to come out.
Something new for this girl. She's never been in the hospital, had any surgery, except when she had Boo, of course. Never really been sick. It threw her for a loop.
The doc was also very concerned with her weight. She weighed a whopping 101 lbs. I knew she was too thin. She has no butt, she is gaunt and her neck vertibrea stick out. It's not that she is not eating, she is just not eating when she should, and as I pointed out to her, there are a few issues in her life right now that really pile on the stress.
Her job
Her ex
Her house
Her move
Her friend's wedding
I left her to fend for herself at home, she seemed to feel a little better, the baby was happy to be home again. She called the Bride, who told her not to worry IF she decided to call this off.
She called her boss to warn him the will need a two week sick leave soon...
It's a good thing I still had a check from one of my (paid off) Visa cards, so I deposited some money into my bank account to cover whatever will come up in the next couple of days.
Daddy surprised me with a call just now. He wants to give Bugs some money. Aparently the check he sent to child services had the wrong case number on it. He wants her to have the money while they straighten that out in the meantime. I told him: we're home, bring it here.
Never a dull moment you say?

YIKES!!!
The gall bladder surgery isn't bad at all. You feel better quickly after it. You go home the same day... unless you have it late in the day. You can eat what you want after having it. Many people feel a lot better after the surgery and can eat without pain. They gain weight. It's not terrible surgery. The cuts are small. It's not a big deal. You just feel so much better after, it's amazing. Tell her it's not bad at all. I've had it and I'm glad!!!
